'You wouldn't believe what some people throw away': Person rescues giant, unique Maine Coon cat that was abandoned on the street and gives her a home worthy of a royal

No cat deserves to be abandoned.

Our house cats have it pretty good. They have warm beds, full food bowls, humans who cater to their every little whim, no matter how ridiculous it may be. And although they try to run out of the house every time the front door opens, they only do it because of curiosity. If they knew anything about what life outside those four walls can be like, they would likely never try to run again. Most of them wouldn't last a day without their loyal servants taking care of them. And that's exactly why abandoning a cat is so heartbreaking. These little creatures depend on us, and we know it. They trust us to keep them safe, and they deserve to have a home where they never have to worry about where their next meal is coming from. No cat should have to fend for themselves on the streets, especially one who has spent their life depending on humans.

But there's something especially shocking about someone abandoning a cat like this one. Maine Coons are already incredibly special, and there are people out there who would do just about anything to welcome a cat like him into their family. Seriously, some people spend years hoping to adopt a Maine Coon, and here was someone who apparently decided they didn't want theirs anymore. Well, their loss is someone else's blessing. This gorgeous girl has now found himself a home where she's treated like the royalty she is, and honestly, that's exactly where she belongs. The previous owner clearly didn't deserve her at all.

  • We never believe it, honestly. And it doesn't matter which kind of cat it is. Abandoning any cat is cruel in our opinion, regardless of whether it's an expensive cat or not. We know indoor cats. We have them. We know that they have zero survival skills. These cats don't understand life where food isn't served to them and there are no blankets to burrow into. An indoor cat being thrown outside is living on borrowed time every day it's there. But you know what? Every time we come across a story like this one, we're glad. The cat is saved, given the kind of home and love that it deserves, and the person who had the cat previously doesn't have the cat anymore. And that's a good thing. Because a person like that doesn't deserve to have a cat anyway.

    I know I've seen lots of posts on here of people asking if a stray they found is a pure bred Maine coon only for it to be a (still beautiful!) domestic long hair... well I think I won the cat lottery.

    About a month ago this little girl was found by an older gentleman on the side of the road with no collar and no microchip. He let her live in his backyard and made a post on Nextdoor and Ring. A month goes by and no answers.

    He makes another post about another cat he found and my friend whose mother runs a cat rescue (that I volunteer for), comes over for the other cat but he mentions he also needs help with a "white cat".

    She calls me immediately when she sees it because I already have 2 Maine Coons that I spoil and she asks if I would like to adopt her. Immediate yes.

    I had to cut chunks/mats of dried diarrhea out of her fur and give her 2 baths, unfortunately her fur is still stained but I'm sure it'll go away eventually.

    But after giving her some tube treats that I slipped some gabapentin in and leaving her alone for about 2 hours, I can in and she was flopping herself over my lap, headbutting me in the stomach and playfully trying to bite my thighs.

    Last night I tried to let her sleep with me but she was waaaaaay too playful for that. She kept attacking my hands XD She's excited to see the other cats already and I let them sniff through the door but she's gonna have to wait 2 weeks!

  • Oh, the glow-up. We love to see it. That is one cat who is living its best life now. You can see how happy she is, how comfortable she is in her new home. She knows she is safe now, so she can finally breathe easy, finally embrace being herself and enjoying the little things in life.

    A little more than a month ago I posted about coming across a stray Maine Coon kitten (which is insane right?). She was pretty sick when we came across her, upper respiratory nfect on, bad fleas and ear mites. Here's an update on her! She's 7-8 months old now.

    She's fitting in so well and is quickly working her way to being my favorite. Out of all my cats she seems to be the one who appreciates the most my home, garden, and all the things I fill it with for them.

    She gets along quite well with my cats, she's now comfortable pouncing on my two domestic short hairs and wrestling with them. She's the first girl cat I've seen that is clingy like a boy cat :3

    She's not a picky eater, she's a cuddle bug, she's the most talkative cat out of all 6 of my cats (and I have some extremely talkative cats), and I've started working on leash training and she's taken to that very well.
